Why is my soy wax candle bumpy?

This bumpy phenomenon is what we like to call cauliflower tops! We know they can look a little ugly, but please, there's nothing to be worried about. Here's why this happens and how to fix it.

Why do cauliflower tops happen?

So why do you get bumpy (or cauliflower) tops with soy wax and not paraffin? Simply put: soy wax is natural and paraffin is manmade! Because soy wax is natural, it has a different molecular structure than paraffin. When soy wax cools and creates and bumpy top, this is just due to the molecules cooling at different rates! That's all! The longer you burn a candle, the bigger the melt pool gets. The bigger the melt pool, the longer it takes the wax to cool and may develop bumpy tops as a result. So, how do you fix them?

How to fix bumpy candle tops

This is an incredibly easy fix, are you ready? All you have to do is... light your candle again! Once you light your candle again, the wax will melt and your bumpy tops are now liquid.
